This home, built in 2024, is set to receive a new basement entry door on the south side which is the left side when facing from the street. The planned opening will be five feet wide and 80 inches tall, located about seven feet from the nearby wall corner.

To support the load above the new opening, we specified a six-foot lintel made from 4”x4”x1/8” steel, minimum thickness. The lintel will be secured with standard steel-to-masonry construction adhesive and will extend slightly past each side of the opening for proper bearing.

This reinforcement ensures that the wall continues to carry its load safely after the cutout, maintaining the foundation’s integrity while allowing for a clean, functional basement entry for this home in Grantsville UT.
