Located on the hills of Lehi, Utah, is a home with poor workmanship on all fronts. We observed drainage systems that lead water directly to the foundation of the home, failing retaining walls, and misplaced structural pillars. A combination of all of these structural mistakes could cause damage to the home in the event of an accident.

As seen in the first picture, the pillar is eccentric, meaning it is not properly centered. This causes the load it supports to be transferred off‑axis. Additionally, boulders were causing a load onto another pillar, pressing horizontally on an element that is built to bear a vertical load, not horizontal. This, along with the failing retaining wall, are some of the significant structural problems, but more can be found in the photos below.

With all of these structural mistakes, the home owner plans to put together evidence that will show the builder’s fault and allow a way for the home owner to receive compensation. The written report we provided to her will allow for added evidence showing the poor workmanship of the home
